Britney Spears and Green Day have both released new songs as they prepare to drop new albums.

Yep, that latter album is news: Green Day announced Thursday morning that their new album Revolution Radio will be arriving October 7. “Bang Bang” is their first new song in nearly four years, and interestingly, it’s written from the perspective of a shooter.

“It’s about the culture of mass shooting that happens in America mixed with narcissistic social media,” said Billie Joe Armstrong to Rolling Stone. “There’s this sort of rage happening, but it’s also now being filmed and we all have ourselves under surveillance.”

“To me, that is so twisted,” he continues. “To get into the brain of someone like that was freaky. It freaked me out. After I wrote it, all I wanted to do was get that out of my brain because it just freaked me out.”

“Bang Bang” by Green Day lyrics:

[Intro]
This is definitely not the first video to surface of an execution. …of men, they claimed responsibility for the executions. Described as severely mentally disturbed. Videos show another hostage executed by the terrorist group. Deserve to be annihilated.

[Verse 1]
I get my kicks and I wanna start a rager
I wanna dance like I’m on the video
I got a fever for the violent behavior
I’m sweatin’ bullets like a modern Romeo
[Chorus]
Bang, bang, give me fame
Shoot me up to entertain
I am a semi-automatic lonely boy
You’re dead, I’m well fed
Give me death or give me head
Daddy’s little psycho and mommy’s little soldier

[Verse 2]
I testify like a lullaby of memories
Broadcasting live and it’s on my radio
I got my photobomb, I got my Vietnam
I love a lie just like anybody else

[Chorus]
Bang, bang, give me fame
Shoot me up to entertain
I am a semi-automatic lonely boy
You’re dead, I’m well fed
Give me death or give me head
Broadcasting from my room and playin’ with my toys
I wanna be a celebrity martyr
The leading man in my own private drama
Hoorah, bang, bang, hoorah, bang, bang, the hero of the hour
Daddy’s little psycho and mommy’s little soldier

[Bridge]
I wanna be like the soldiers on the screen
It’s my private movie (Holy War)
Oh baby, baby, this is Viva Vendetta
Oh this is love or it’s World War Zero

[Chorus]
I wanna be a celebrity martyr
The leading man in my own private drama
Hoorah, bang, bang, hoorah, bang, bang, the hero of the hour
Daddy’s little psycho and mommy’s little soldier
I wanna be a celebrity martyr
The leading man in my own private drama
Hoorah, bang, bang, hoorah, bang, bang, the hero of the hour
Daddy’s little psycho and mommy’s little soldier

[Verse 1]
Clumsy
But I love how you go down
Head first and slide it out
Again and again
Clumsy
Keep on bumping into you
Bangin’ all over this bedroom
Again and again

[Pre-Chorus]
Call me a fool, call me insane
But don’t call it a day
Closer to you, closer to pain
It’s better than far away
Whoaaa
[Chorus]
Whoa oh oh (oh oh)
Oh oh oh (ohhh)
Whoa oh oh (oh oh)
Oh oh oh…

Oops!

[Post-Chorus]
Hey, clumsy
Hey, clumsy
Whoaaaa

Cuz I’ll be slippin’ off this dress
Fooling ’round and then we smash
Again and again (come here, baby)
Clumsy
Never told a soul about what we’ve done
You let it roll right off your tongue
Again and again

[Pre-Chorus]
Call me a fool, call me insane
But don’t call it a day
Closer to you, closer to pain
It’s better than far away

Whoa oh oh (oh oh)
Oh oh oh…

Oops!
