It takes a lot of work to become a superhero, and Brie Larson was recently spotted at Las Vegas’ Nellis Air Force Base prepping to become Captain Marvel.

For any actor jumping into their first superhero role, it means a great deal of learning and training. Obviously, there are a lot of physical requirements involved, but becoming a hero also means learning to think and act like one.

Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, is a pilot and an officer in the U.S. Air Force who has also worked for NASA. So understanding what it means to be in the Air Force, and how an officer and pilot would think and act is key to playing Captain Marvel.

Because of this, Brie Larson recently spent some time at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas to prep for the role. We don’t know what she was doing there specifically, but a lucky Airman got the chance to snap a selfie with the actor during her time on base.

Larson is wearing a flight suit in the image (with a name patch says Larson rather than Marvel or Danvers, which I feel like was a missed opportunity), so it stands to reason that she wasn’t just learning the proper ways to salute and basic military ettiquette. It’s all speculation, but it makes sense that her attire means she was experiencing what it’s like to be a pilot in the Air Force.

While the precise reason for her trip is all up to speculation, we at least know that she was prepping for Captain Marvel, which has us really excited to get to meet her on the big screen in March of 2019.
