Brie Larson is getting ready for Captain Marvel in the most relatable way possible: Reading comics while wearing a branded hoodie. #careergoals

One of the biggest pieces of news to come out of San Diego Comic-Con 2016 was Marvel’s announcement that Brie Larson has been cast as Captain Marvel in the upcoming superhero film of the same name.

Larson, who won an Oscar earlier this year for Room, is the first actress to lead a Marvel movie. Although Captain Marvel will be preceded by DC’s Wonder Woman, we imagine she’s feeling the pressure — but don’t worry, because she’s already started studying!

This weekend, Larson tweeted a picture of herself wearing a Captain Marvel jumper and reading a Captain Marvel comic. The photo was taken by her fiancée Alex Greenwald:

It’s such a small gesture, and yet we’re heartened to see Larson take this responsibility — which is always present when an actor takes on an iconic, beloved character — so seriously.

Larson is a veteran of Hollywood, having been in showbiz since she was eight years old, and has always considered herself to be a geek, a Star Wars fan who trolls Reddit in her spare time.

Although we all had strong feelings about the Captain Marvel casting ahead of the SDCC announcement, there has been shockingly little backlash to Brie Larson’s casting, and we can’t help but feel like stuff like this has a lot to do with it. After all, what we really want are great actors who take these movies seriously — and who do their homework, wink wink.
