Bridgerton season 2 has found its leading lady in Simone Ashley.

According to Deadline, actress Simone Ashley has officially joined the cast of Bridgerton season 2 on Netflix.

Ashley’s casting comes just a few weeks following word that Netflix has officially picked up the hit Shondaland period drama for a second season.

At the time of the season 2 renewal announcement, the online streaming giant also revealed that the series’ second season would be shining a spotlight on Daphne’s brother, Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey).

Based on the second book in Julia Quinn’s series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, season 2 is set to focus on the eldest Bridgerton brothers’ attempt to find a suitable match.

As for Simone Ashley, the Sex Education vet will have a very large role to play in season 2.

Specifically, Ashley will co-star as Kate Sharma, who also happens to be Anthony’s love interest.

Kate, who will arrive in town at the start of the season, is described as “a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools– Anthony Bridgerton very much included.”

Production on Bridgerton season 2 is set to start back up again this coming spring out in London.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see the series second season premiere via Netflix.
