This past Sunday’s episode of Family Guy featured what the show’s producers are calling the real death of Brian.

But… what is this new website?

UPDATE: The show’s producers are denying that the site is not official. The mystery continues…

BriansAnnouncement.com appears to be an official Family Guy website and is counting down to 12 p.m. on Friday, December 6. The website includes a photo of a vehicle driving into the Family Guy town of Quahog.

The death of Brian shocked viewers who couldn’t believe Family Guy would kill off such an important character who is voiced by series creator Seth MacFarlane. Brian has been with the show since the very beginning. Petitions surfaced all over the internet begging for the talking dog – Stewie’s best friend – to return.

So is Brian really dead? The website seems to suggest otherwise, and it’s looking like this was nothing more than a publicity stunt to boost the show’s ratings and merchandise sales.

You can watch the episode in question below. After Brian’s death, a new dog is introduced voiced by a former Sopranos actor who helps console Peter. The new character is pretty annoying and may further suggest that they don’t really intend on keeping him:

We’ll let you know next week what the website has to reveal.

What do you think? Is Brian truly dead?

And how will they introduce him? It should be in a way that is somewhat believable (but this is a goofy animated world, after all).

If it is a publicity stunt, Fox truly got what they wanted out of the media and fans.
