In a press release, IMAX announced that fans can see The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 on the extra big screen in their theaters – but only in the United Kingdom.

IMAX theaters offer larger and sometimes higher quality compared to a normal movie theater. Eclipse was the last film to be offered in the IMAX format.

“IMAX’s participation in 2010 on the release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was a success, so we’re thrilled to continue this productive collaboration,” said Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger. “IMAX delivers a unique and memorable experience that is the perfect way to celebrate this special movie-going event.”

Added Greg Foster, President of IMAX, “The Twilight Saga franchise and its passionate fans deserve an epic send-off. We’re excited to present the saga, larger than life, in IMAX.”

Breaking Dawn – Part 2 hits IMAX theaters in the U.K. on November 16 – the same day the film is released normally in the country. The company promises that it will “also screen in the IMAX format in select IMAX theatres in other international markets,” but those countries have not yet been announced.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see Breaking Dawn – Part 2 hit IMAX after its November 16 release in the United States, or perhaps a deal is still in the works for opening day. Some scenes in the film will be particular treats on the bigger screen like the rumored finale battle!
