Earlier this week we learned that Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is developing a spin-off centering on Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk.

Now the actor is sounding off on the news and isn’t afraid to keep it a secret.

“Oh yeah, we’ve talked about it,” he told Vulture in a new interview. “Vince is still really busy with the show so we haven’t talked very in-depth about it, but he clearly thinks it’s a possibility. And I’ve certainly told him that if there was some way to see more of Saul then I would be happy to do it. It would be fun.”

The Breaking Bad spin-off is reportedly being developed by Gilligan and writer-producer Peter Gould, who conceived the character of Saul in season 1. The show is being tried as a comedy, and it hasn’t been decided whether the show will produce 30 or 60 minute episodes.

While Vulture had Odenkirk on the line, they also spoke about his final scene in Breaking Bad season 5. “The last scene I’m in is just a really rich one,” he said. “It reminded me of the first scene I was in and how much there was to work with there. There’s a lot going on in it. I’m just glad they didn’t end with Saul drives by and waves.”

Breaking Bad season 5 (also known as season 6)’s final eight episodes begin airing this July on AMC.

It seems they just need a solid script – which we’re sure Gilligan could produce with enough thought – and this Breaking Bad spin-off can become a reality. We just hope they remain cautious throughout the development process.
