The first Breaking Bad season 6 teaser poster holds a very simple message but speaks volumes about what’s to come in the final eight episodes.

The poster simply reads, “All bad things must come to an end.” A line of smoke floats upward in the background and we see the show’s long-running color scheme. The sentence is a play on the popular phrase, “All good things must come to an end.”

This first Breaking Bad season 6 teaser poster can be interpreted in a couple of ways. One theory is that the poster simply references the fact that the show is coming to a close after the final eight episodes. Alternatively, it is hinting at the end of Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston) reign. Or is it referring to both things?

Whenever we wonder about how this show could end, our mind goes back to the opening scenes in Breaking Bad season 5 when we flash forward to Walt’s 52nd birthday in which he’s dining at a Denny’s restaurant. That big glimpse into what’s ahead for Walt didn’t suggest that he would be dying. If he does meet the Grim Reaper, it’ll be only if the final eight episodes get us past his 52 birthday. In interviews conducted last year, creator Vince Gilligan stated that we will indeed return to that scene in which he purchases a big gun that’s “never leaving town,” so this “bad” moment that’s coming to an end will perhaps happen after the flash forward scene.

Breaking Bad season 6, otherwise known as the final eight episodes of season 5, premieres Sunday, August 11 on AMC.
