For the first time, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is sharing great teases about his show’s series finale.

Breaking Bad season 6 will reach resolution and be non-stop action according to Gilligan in a new interview. He also reveals that he struggled for a bit while figuring out a way to use the show’s final eight episodes.

“Anyone anxious that there won’t be resolution enough at the end of these eight episodes can rest assured that the story very much reaches resolution,” said Gilligan. “It will not end in any kind of open-ended sense.”

The resolution didn’t come easy, as Gilligan was quick to point out. “I was very nervous for the last year that we didn’t have an interesting enough way to wrap up ‘Breaking Bad.’ I have to say that we were in the woods for a long time with these final eight episodes,” he admitted. “Creatively, I felt like I couldn’t see the forest for the trees, and I was sort of trying to hack my way through the jungle of this story.”

All said and done, Gilligan is happy with what they’ve created in Breaking Bad season 6. “I’m very proud of these final eight. They go like gangbusters. There is no downtime in them. We are racing to the finish. I think they end the show in as satisfying a manner as we could possibly come up with.”

The whole point of AMC and Gilligan creating a clear end point for the series was to ensure that they’d do Breaking Bad and its fans the justice they deserved. We’re thrilled to hear he was able to create a final storyline where “there is no downtime in them.” As great as Breaking Bad has been, there’ve been a few episodes where things felt like they were dragging.

Breaking Bad season 6, otherwise known as Breaking Bad’s final eight episodes, premieres Sunday, August 11 on AMC. The final season will be accompanied by a new post-show talk show called Talking Bad. It’ll be a similar vein as The Walking Dead talk show The Talking Dead.
