Breaking Bad season 6, episode 4/season 5, episode 12 was another exciting step towards the grand finale. Check out our detailed recap to relive the events.

This week’s Breaking Bad episode started off right where we left off last week: Jesse pouring gasoline on the carpet in Walt’s house after he realized in last week’s episode that it was Walt who had the ricin cigarette stolen from him and poisoned Brock with the Lily of the Valley flower.

Walt pulls up to his house and sees Jesse’s car parked/wrecked into his drive way and then he goes into the backyard with his gun. Walt sneaks into the backdoor and tries to get a look at what Jesse is doing, and we’re on the edge of our seat wondering if there is about to be a shootout. Why hasn’t the fire been started yet? The gas tank is on the ground as Walt enters the house.

Walt notices the carpet is soaked when he steps into the hallway and calls out for Jesse multiple times. It’s clear he doesn’t want to kill Jesse, but it’s also clear that Saul has explained how dire the situation has become.

Walt opens his bedroom door, and we see that Jesse is nowhere to be found. Walt finds a disc on Jesse’s dash, and we’re supposed to think it may be the DVD that he made for Hank.

Huel shows up and Walt tells him to find Jesse and get rid of his car. Walt calls the carpet cleaning company to clean up the gasoline before his wife gets home and gives Jesse a call and says that he’s happy that he changed his mind and didn’t burn down his house. Walt says he wants to “fix this,” and tells Jesse to call him after he sleeps it off.

Walt tells the carpet cleaners that there cannot be any sign of the gas in the house but they explain to him that the only way to get rid of the smell is to replace the carpet. Walt quickly devises a plan, soaking his clothes in gasoline and splashing some in his car before tossing the gas can into the neighbor’s garbage.

Skyler shows up at the house and finds a fan in Walt’s car. He has set up a plan to tell Skyler that there was a pump malfunction that caused the gas smell that he’s now cleaning up. Walt Jr. is also there, which we haven’t seen in quite a while.

Neither Skyler or Walt Jr. seem to buy his story, but it is Walt Jr. who calls him out on it this time, asking him to “just tell the truth.” Walt Jr. thinks Walt passed out again because of his cancer.

Walt’s luck strikes again as Walt Jr. thinks it’s a great idea to head to a nice hotel while the gas clears out.

Saul shows up and Walt gets in the backseat and starts asking if they’ve found out where Jesse is hiding, but no luck. Saul asks Walt what he plans to do with Jesse once they find him and suggests killing Jesse because he’s a “bad penny.” He suggest going “old Yeller” on him, but Walt tells him not to “float that idea again…find him.”

Walt continues to look after Jesse, despite what everyone seems to think about their relationship. Skyler confronts Walt about speaking with Saul, and Walt finally spills the beans about Jesse. He’s vague, but fairly honest all things considered. Skyler is disturbed by the fact that Jesse was going to burn the house down.

Walt tells Skyler not to worry, that Saul’s guy is out looking for Jesse and that once he’s found, he plans on talking to him. She asks him if he’s going to kill Jesse, and then tells him that he needs to “deal with this.” She explains that they’ve gotten “this far” and that they can’t risk having Jesse hurt them.

We get a flashback of Jesse pouring gas in Walt’s house again. He is about to light the fire when, surprisingly, Hank shows up and stops him.

Jesse tells Hank that Walt has poisoned a kid before; Hank asks Jesse to put out the lighter because he doesn’t want to kill him. Jesse didn’t “change his mind,” he has now joined up with Hank to really “burn him down.”

Walt drives up just after Hank leaves with Jesse. Hank reveals that he had been following Jesse since he was at Saul’s office and that they’re going downtown to the DEA office.

Marie is then at a psychiatrist and is trying to deal with the problems that her and Hank are having. Marie says she can’t believe she could be so blinded by Walt and his actions. The psyciatrist tries to get some details out of her about Walt, but Marie says she can’t.

Inside Episode 12

She gets frustrated and asks that they talk about something else, but she’s consumed by what’s happened to her and Hank. She even talks about killing Walt and says it “feels good to think about it.”

When she gets home, she finds that Hank has packed a bag for her. He has booked her some time at the spa, saying that there’s been a development with Walt and that it will go smoother if she’s not at the house. Marie refuses to go without some details and Hank reveals they “have a guest.” Jesse is asleep on a bed in their house, and Hank reveals that if they put Jesse in the “system” that someone will find out, and Walt will be able to kill Jesse before he gets to testify.

Marie refuses to leave knowing that this will hurt Walt, and Hank answers Jesse’s phone. It’s Walt’s message from earlier. Hank seems dumbfounded by the message.

Back with Walt, he’s staring outside at poolside as Walt Jr. walks up and tells him he couldn’t sleep. Jr. starts asking if everything is okay and Walter says not to worry, that it’s “just business stuff.” Jr. still thinks Walt is sick and is hiding it from him, but Walt reassures him that he’s “not going anywhere.”

Walt makes a call, but we aren’t sure to whom. Jesse wakes up and sees a picture of Walt and Skyler during Christmas and then comes out and sees Marie, and she asks him if he wants some coffee. Jesse looks incredibly unstable, but more clear headed than before.

Hank is setting up a video camera and his partner, Gomez, is there with him. Jesse starts to get worried about his word versus Walt’s. Hank asks Jesse to just tell them his story. Jesse starts telling his story from the beginning, where he met Walt as a teacher.

After the interview, Hank asks Gomez if he believes Jesse, and he says he does. He’s worried though because he feels there’s no physical evidence. Hank says they can start with the physical evidence that is the voice message that he made poolside which talks about him and Jesse meeting up.

Hank wants to put a wire on Jesse during the meeting, and Jesse can’t believe this is their plan. He knows that Walt will kill him, but Hank says that Walt cares about him too much to hurt him. Jesse seems unconvinced, but Hank tells him that the meeting would take place in the plaza, which is a very open place.

Jesse tells them that Walt is the devil, and he’s smarter than all of them. Hank reveals that he’s not asking Jesse to do this, he’s telling him that is what’s happening. Jesse goes to the bathroom, and Gomez tells Hank he thinks Jesse is right, but Hank doesn’t care, he says if he gets killed at least they’ll get it on tape.

Hank gives Jesse some tips before the meeting as he wires him up for sound, and tests the sound with Gomez as he monitors Walt. Jesse looks apprehensive, but he leaves the car and walks towards Walt. Jesse looks insanely afraid as he walks to Walt, and sees a suspicious looking guy near Walt and stops moving.

Jesse can’t do it and runs to a payphone. He calls Walt and tells him “nice try..asshole.” He tells Walt that he’s coming for him, and that he’s going to get him where he really lives next time. Walt is surprised by what Jesse has said and we find out that the suspicious looking guy wasn’t with Walt afterall.

Hank picks up Jesse off the street and flips out on him. Jesse tells him there’s another way to get Walt, a better way. Walt calls Todd and tells him that he “might have another job” for his uncle aka killing Jesse.

Next week’s episode will undoubtedly be another incredible show. What will happen now that Jesse is coming after Walt along with Hank, and Walt is getting Todd’s crazed family to go after Jesse?

We know that Walt is having Todd’s uncle go after Jesse, but what kind of plan could Jesse have to get Walt in a better way? And what does he mean by where Walt really lives?

We’ll have to wait until next week to see who wins the battle between the best cooks in Albuquerque.
