Our Breaking Bad season 5, episode 13 (also known as season 6, episode 5) recap looks back at tonight’s extraordinary episode.

Following last week’s ending scene where Walt called Todd to tell him that he has a new job for his uncle, tonight’s episode opened with Lydia, Todd, and his uncle (Jack) in their meth lab discussing the color of the meth. The new meth, which has a 76% purity level, isn’t blue which bothers Lydia because that’s what her customers are used to seeing. Later, the two talk privately and Todd appears to make a move on her, but she passes. After she leaves, Walt calls Todd and requests Jack kills Jesse.

In the next scene, Hank and Steven are meeting with Jesse. He proposes that they find Walt’s money because it’s the only piece of evidence he can’t get rid of.

Hank decides to meet with Huell in a hotel room and pulls a huge stunt on him. He tells Huell that Walt killed Jesse and shows him a photo (that they faked before meeting up) and convinces him that Walt next wants to kill Huell. Upset, Huell offers everything he knows about what Walt did with the money: All he knew was the truck that Walt used to go hide it was dirty, he had used a shovel, and he buried money in cannisters.

Not being the brightest bulb in the box, Saul’s bodyguard falls for the whole stunt that Hank and Steven pull. The two cops go so far as to convince Huell that he can’t leave the hotel room and can’t make any phone calls until Walt is caught.

Meeting with Jack, Walt explains why Jesse needs to die. When it comes to talking money, Jack says he doesn’t want cash – he wants Walt to cook with Todd so they can get the purity of the meth up. After insisting he’s no longer in the business of cooking, Jack counters that this is the only way he’ll kill Jesse. Walt begrudgingly agrees to one cook after Jesse is killed. The question then came down to: How to track down Jesse?

In the next scene, Walt goes to Andrea’s house. He says hi to Brock who seems resistant to saying hello back. Walt tells Andrea that he’s worried about Jesse because he hasn’t heard from him and fears he may have died. After Walt explains that they recently had a fight, Andrea says she’ll give him a call.

Andrea leaves a voicemail on Jesse’s phone, but the voicemail is intercepted by Hank who doesn’t buy in to it and knows Walt just wants to get Jesse over to her house. He doesn’t tell Jesse about the call.

At the car wash, Walt Jr. is being trained at the car wash register by Skyler when Saul walks in. Walt Jr. is starstruck by Saul.

Walt and Saul meet outside the car wash and the lawyer breaks the news that Huell has gone missing. Walt thinks Jesse just hasn’t received the voicemail.

Walt gets a text from Jesse, and it’s a photo of a canister just like the ones Walt used to bury his money. Walt sees the photo of the canister full of money and assumes that they found where he buried it all. Walt hops in the car and flies out to the To’hajiilee location and stays on the phone with Jesse the whole time as his former student requests. In an apparent miscalculation because he was so afraid of losing the money, Walt doesn’t realize they’re tracking his location via cell phone. Once he arrives at the place where he buried his money, he realizes Jesse and Hank tricked him.

He calls Jack to have him come out to kill Jesse, but then realizes Hank is there too. Walt is stunned. He’s locked. He starts to tear up. He tells Jack to not come out, because he can’t kill his brother like he told Saul several episodes ago.

Hank, Steven, and Jesse are waiting for Walt to show himself. He finally walks out of hiding and surrenders. Hank reads Walt his miranda rights and arrests him. Jesse spits in Walt’s face, which causes a fight between the two that is quickly dissolved.

Hank calls his wife to tell him that he captured Walt. He tells her he loves him. Moments later, Jack and his team show up to take out Jesse despite Walt’s requests not to come. Walt continues to tell them to fall back but they don’t listen. Hank and Steven tell Jack and company to not fire because they’re police. Jack asks to see their badges, but they don’t show them.

The shoot out begins. Rounds are being fired from both parties while Walt is locked up in the car. The scene continues for an agonizing minute then ends. We don’t see who dies.

While we don’t know who (if anyone) dies, it’s safe to assume that someone gets a fatal hit to their body. We won’t know until next week, but we’d put our money on Hank getting hit.

Considering that Jack needs the purity of his meth to go up with Walt’s help, Jack needs to make sure that Jesse and potentially roadblocks like Hank die. It’s going to be a painful week of waiting.
