Breaking Bad season 5 star Anna Gunn, who plays Skyler White in AMC’s drama, spoke to The Los Angeles Times in a live chat this morning and thinks a Breaking Bad movie is possible.

“That’s been bandied about, the idea of a Breaking Bad movie,” Gunn said to Times staff writer Glenn Whipp after he jokingly referred to movie plans. “Certainly we would all love that. I have no idea if that’s a serious thing or not, but of course we would love that. We would love any opportunity to get back together and play with each other. If Vince is up for it, we’ll all be up for it.”

Whipp responded by suggesting that since she thinks a Breaking Bad movie is possible, and Gunn knows the series’ outcome, then major characters must survive through the end of the final eight episodes.

That thought gave Gunn pause. “Who knows. Anything could happen,” she responded.

The only way a Breaking Bad movie could happen is if Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) survives the final eight episodes. If Gunn thinks a movie is possible, then we have to think Walt survives through the end.

Any other character on the show could get killed and not be required for a feature length film. We think the show’s ratings during the final eight episodes will help Gilligan and AMC decide if the cost of a movie is worth the investment.

One Breaking Bad spin off that seems to be more likely is a television show centered around the character Saul Goodman, who is Walt’s eccentric lawyer. News of a show following Saul first surfaced in April, and Gilligan has openly discussed the idea since then. If one thing’s for sure about Breaking Bad’s final episodes, it’s that Saul will not see his demise.

Breaking Bad’s final eight episodes premiere August 11.
