Many of us want more Breaking Bad, but few of us have enough money to personally pay Sony and Vince Gilligan for additional episodes.

One of those few is Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, who says that he was so intrigued by the show that he offered the creators $75 million to create three additional 60-minute episodes that would be distributed online and take place after the series finale.

“I had this crazy idea. I was nuts for the show. I had no idea where this season was going,” he said, during a keynote session at Mipcom. The comments were obtained by Variety.

“The last series cost about $3.5 million an episode. So they would make more profit from these three shows than they made from five years of the entire series,” he said, adding, “I said (to them), ‘I’m going to create the greatest pay-per-view television event for scripted programming anybody’s ever done.'”

Katzenberg obviously did not know that in the Breaking Bad series finale lead character Walter White would die. This would make three additional episodes set after episode 16 absent of Heisenberg and thus a little less interesting.

However… what could we see in episodes beyond the finale? We could see how Walt’s wife and children mourn the loss of Walt. We could see how Jesse is dealing with his newfound freedom. We could see what has happened to the meth business now that Lydia, Todd, and Jack are dead. We could see how Marie is dealing with the death of her husband Hank, and how she is getting along with Skyler. And most importantly, what happened to Huell?

While Katzenberg probably didn’t consider the fact that Walt would be dead, all of these plot points remain wide open.

For his part, creator Vince Gilligan has insisted that there won’t be any more episodes. Instead, we’re getting a Breaking Bad prequel.
