Need an incentive to catch up on Medici, Netflix’s period drama about 15th century Florence? How about two: Bradley James and Daniel Sharman will star in the second season.

Set 20 years after the first season of Medici: Masters of Florence, season 2 follows a young Lorenzo the Magnificent and his brother Giuliano as they seek to make the iconic Italian city a financial and cultural hotspot in a quickly developing, early Renaissance-era Europe.

Via Variety, we’ve learned that Daniel Sharman (Teen Wolf, Fear the Walking Dead) will star as Lorenzo, the nephew of season 1 lead Cosimo, with Bradley James (Merlin, Damien) playing his brother Giuliano.

Gotham‘s Julian Sands plays their father Piero, Sarah Parish plays their mother, with Sean Bean as the villainous Jacopo Pazzi. Alessandra Mastronardi, Sandro Botticelli and Raul Bova also star.

An Italian-British production (which is presented as a Netflix Original in the U.S., the U.K., Canada and other international territories), Medici: Masters of Florence is created by Frank Spotnitz and Nicholas Meyer.

Its first season starred Dustin Hoffman and Richard Madden, and has been generally well-received. It is available to stream on Netflix now.
