Although the release of the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer earlier this week gave fans everything they could have hoped for and more, there was one thing missing. We didn’t get to hear Bradley Cooper’s voice bring Rocket Raccoon to life.

We learned from director James Gunn’s comments regarding the trailer that these two CGI creations are very expensive to produce, and that much of the footage focusing on them has yet to be fully polished. According to Gunn, most of Cooper’s lines have already been recorded, and they just need to catch up on the visuals before they show it to the world.

Today Marvel released the first two parts of what will likely become a full series of videos about each member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The first two take care of our “not enough Rocket Raccoon” problem by giving us our very first listen of what Bradley Cooper will sound like as the genetically altered animal this August.

The second deals with who Gunn identified as Rocket’s partner in crime: Groot. Vin Diesel will provide the voice for the mossy life-form, but we don’t get the pleasure of hearing the trademark “I AM GROOT” echo from the lungs of the Iron Giant veteran quite yet. Instead we get treated to a short featurette about Groot, including Diesel’s thoughts about the character.

These featurettes are likely just to whet our appetites until the new trailer premieres in the next couple of months, and also to give us a taste of Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon so that it won’t come as a big surprise just weeks away from the film’s premiere date.

Update: Looks like we guessed correctly! Marvel has sent out another video about Drax the Destroyer, narrated by Dave Bautista. It doesn’t go all the way into exactly who Drax is seeking revenge against (in the comics it’s Thanos and in the movie it appears to be Ronan), but we do get to hear Bautista’s take on the character and see some great behind-the-scenes shots of him kicking ass.

Gamora is the next Guardians character to receive her own featurette. Watch below as Zoe Saldana explains her role:

Rounding out the Guardians of the Galaxy crew, Chris Pratt talks about his role as Star Lord and what to expect in Marvel’s intergalactic joyride:

Do you like Bradley Cooper’s take on Rocket Raccoon? Do you wish we would’ve gotten to hear Vin Diesel say Groot’s famous catchphrase?
