Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken is available now! Read a description of the second book in the Darkest Minds series, along with our review of the novel.

Never Fade is the followup book to Alexandra Bracken’s The Darkest Minds. The sequel explores what happens to Ruby after she wipes Liam’s memory and joins the Children’s League in order to protect her friends from a similar fate.

While Ruby has to make difficult decisions that affect not only herself but her friends — old and new ones alike — she must also struggle with her power as an Orange. What she can do with her mind has always been a sore point for her, but as she works to control her abilities even better than before, she will have to face the moral dilemma of whether or not she should use them.

Action-packed and full of suspense, Never Fade will make you question what exactly you would do if you were in Ruby’s shoes. The answer may surprise you.

Review: ‘Never Fade’

Never Fade begins with an opening that drops you right into the middle of the action. While it is disorienting at first, it also drives home the confusion and panic of the situation that Ruby finds herself in during the first few chapters of the book.

After that, Never Fade quickly gets off the ground, running at a relentless pace that doesn’t let the main characters or the reader pause too long to get their breath. As with The Darkest Minds, it seems like there’s always an enemy around the corner, waiting to take advantage of a supposed calm.

When we left our characters in The Darkest Minds, it was on a bitter-sweet note. While Ruby did what she had to do to protect her friends, we can’t deny that it wasn’t hard to see everyone part ways.

When we meet up with some of those same characters again, a similar feeling is present as Ruby has to learn to live with the consequences of her actions. And she can’t help but wonder if she’s turning into everything she’s been fighting against for so long.

Never Fade is available now. Get it on Amazon or Barnes & Noble, and don’t forget to add it to your Goodreads list.
