Sony has released an interesting behind-the-scenes look at the making of Wonderbook technology and how it used it to team up with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling to create Book of Spells.

A brief catch-up: Book of Spells is an upcoming game exclusively available for Playstation 3 using its Wonderbook, Playstation Eye, and Playstation Move products. It was designed with Rowling who provided new information about the spells in the Harry Potter realm, including background stories and enchantment details. It was annnounced at E3 in June. Once you have the game, you will be able to turn your Wonderbook and Move devices into a spellbook and wand, respectively. From there you can learn the history and cast several classic spells while advancing as a Hogwarts student.

This behind-the-scenes look offers new gameplay footage (naturally, it’s only kids playing the game with their parents) and shows you how the Wonderbook can be digitally transformed into an interactive spell book.

Wonderbook: Book of Spells will be released in the U.S. on November 13. It will be available in two bundles: one with the Playstation Eye and Move devices ($79.99) and one without ($39.99). Both include the Book of Spells game and Wonderbook.

I wrote in a previous opinion piece about the fact that this new Harry Potter information will only be available to those who purchase the game and several Sony Playstation products. It cuts off a huge part of the fan base.
