David ‘Angel’ Boreanaz is lining up a post-Bones project, this time as the lead in a CBS drama about Navy SEALs.

The series finale of Bones airs March 28, but lead actor David Boreanaz is already moving on to greener pastures.

The actor, who of course first shot to prominence as Angel on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has replaced Person of Interest alum Jim Caviezel as the lead in CBS’ upcoming Navy SEAL drama pilot.

TV Line reports that the show, “Follows the lives of the elite Navy SEALs as they train, plan and execute the most dangerous, high-stakes missions our country can ask.”

Boreanaz takes over from Caviezel, who left the series due to creative differences, as lead character Jason: a “respected, committed leader of his assault team who’s been through over a dozen deployments, with scars inside and out.”

The pilot was written by Justified‘s Ben Cavell, and also stars Max Theriot, A.J. Buckley and Jessica Pare. If ordered to series it’ll air on CBS.
