Bringing Bond 25 to the big screen has been a big struggle, and things are going to get even more complicated as Daniel Craig requires surgery.

There has been a great deal of drama behind the scenes of Bond 25. With issues like Daniel Craig expressing his extreme distaste for ever playing the role of James Bond again (something he clearly got over), directorial shakeups, script struggles, and more, it’s been quite the journey to get this movie made.

And now it seems the film has encountered yet another roadblock. Daniel Craig recently suffered an ankle injury onset, and while he’s okay, he will require surgery.

For a movie that focuses pretty heavily on the activities of Craig’s character, that’s a pretty big blow. However, at this point, the film’s release hasn’t been moved back, and production isn’t going to be delayed.

As Variety reports, the official Bond Twitter let fans know that Craig will be requiring surgery for his ankle injury, but it should be a minor enough surgery that Craig will recover quickly.

So for now, it seems that Bond 25 is still on track to release in 2020. Playing James Bond onscreen definitely requires a lot of physical activity like fighting and running, so it isn’t surprising that he incurred an injury. Variety reports that the actor injured himself when he was sprinting and then falling awkwardly.

We’re still waiting on an official title reveal for Bond 25. It was expected that the new title would drop at the Bond 25 launch event in April, but nothing was announced. Hopefully, that reveal will be headed our way soon.

We’re wishing Daniel Craig a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him in action when Bond 25 opens in U.K. movie theaters on April 3, 2020 and U.S. theaters on April 8.
