Here’s our first (utterly smashing) look at Adrianne Palicki in her role as Bobbi Morse on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2!
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 got off to a killer start in last night’s season premiere, but the excitement isn’t letting up a drop. One of the many thrilling casting announcements for the Marvel show’s sophomore season was actress Adrianne Palicki as superspy Bobbi Morse – codename “Mockingbird.”
Now we have our first look at Palicki in her eagerly-anticipated role. The actress looks exceptionally badass, but comic book aficionados may be surprised to see a change in her classic illustrated appearance.
And there is one other little detail they may not have expected to learn…
In contrast to her character’s incarnation in the comics, Bobbi Morse will be boasting a brunette look on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2. But of more piquant interest than her hair color is the character’s new job description, which is reportedly “Head of HYDRA Security.”
Could Bobbi Morse begin her journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a black-hat (to go with her brown hair)? Or is the Mockingbird perhaps deeply undercover in the HYDRA organization, working to help S.H.I.E.L.D. from behind the scarlet-clad enemy lines?
Only time will tell, but the first hints of Mockingbird’s appearance, revealed at San Diego Comic-Con, do suggest that her alliance will not be all-in for the bad guys.
And Director Coulson did have a cryptic phone conversation with an unknown agent at the beginning of last night’s season premiere. “Try to move up with your head down,” he cautioned. Could his advice have been directed to the fabled spy?
Palicki, known for her role in Friday Night Lights, will make her debut on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 5, titled “A Hen in the Wolf House,” which will air on Oct. 21.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2, episode 2, “Heavy is the Head,” will air on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
