Country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have announced that their four-year marriage is coming to an end.

The duo announced their divorce in a statement after paperwork was filed on Monday.

“This is not the future we envisioned,” they said in a statement to the Associated Press. “And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”

Understandably, Shelton (who’s 39) and Lambert (31) didn’t share why their marriage is coming to an end.

The couple met in 2005 and began dating in 2008. They married in 2011. It was Shelton’s second marriage and Lambert’s first.

Shelton has been a staple on NBC’s hit singing competition series The Voice while juggling a music career. Lambert released her fifth studio album last year titled Platinum.
