Tonight, Black Sails season 2, episode 3 is going to be a matter of alliances for Eleanor. Someone needs to help her take out Ned Low. Who will it be?

Eleanor Guthrie (Hannah New) plays a dangerous game on Black Sails. She is trading in both business and people’s hearts. The question is, what is more dangerous: toying with people’s hearts, or toying with people’s business deals. Both might get you killed, but is one more forgivable than the other?

For starters, Eleanor has put her trust, not to mention a significant amount of money, into the hands of Captain James Flint (Toby Stephens). Flint, who is also Eleanor’s sometime lover, promised that if she gave him necessary guns and money, he’d return with the plunder of the Spanish treasure galleon the Urca Da Lima.

It looks like in the video below that Eleanor is now aware that Flint has failed in his mission. What’s more, Flint doesn’t seem pleased that Eleanor, in his absence, has had to make some tough calls — such as not challenging Charles Vane’s control of the fort.

Next, there’s the matter of Mrs. Barlow (Louise Barnes). Mrs. Barlow seems to indicate to Eleanor that Flint is loyal to her, not Eleanor. Assuming this is true and not just a way to manipulate Eleanor, who does she turn to?

The obvious answer for Eleanor might be Captain Charles Vane (Zach McGowan). Vane does seem to have a weak spot where Eleanor is concerned, as Max (Jessica Parker Kennedy) points out in the video below. The only thing is, has Vane fully forgiven Eleanor for his previous downfall?

Black Sails airs on Starz at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
