Black Sails left us with a cliffhanger last week. What are the possible outcomes?

No one will ever accuse Eleanor Guthrie (Hannah New) of not have the balls to act in the testosterone fueled environment of Black Sails. When we last left her a week ago she was on what many might consider a suicide mission: the rescue of Abigail Ash.

Last week, Eleanor decided that she needed to rescue Abigail from the dungeon of the fort that Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) now occupies. The larger question is if Eleanor is successful, does she turn Abigail over to Flint who will then in-turn hand Abigail over to Lord Peter Ash, her father, or does she has some other plan?

Given that this is Black Sails, we’re not liking Eleanor’s odds of not getting discovered and tortured. Vane’s men don’t like her to begin with. If they discover that she has broken in, knocked out one of their comrades, stolen his keys, and freed Abigail… let’s just say that what happened to Max last season is going to look like a day at Disneyland.

If, or should we say when, Eleanor is taken will Flint come to get her out? At this point, Flint might be more interested in Abigail, Eleanor be damned. Eleanor and Flint might be allies at the moment, but can Flint forget the fact that Eleanor does what’s best for her business, and can’t be trusted? On the other hand, does Flint need the Guthrie name and money to secure a legitimate Nassau? It’s not like Mr. Guthrie is a fan of Flint’s if Eleanor dies. Maybe saving Eleanor and Abigail isn’t such a bad idea after all.

Even if Eleanor, by some miracle, gets Abigail out of the fortress, how long will it be until Vane pursues her? Vane has been screwed over by Eleanor before, it’s not likely that he will let this go. He will have to seek vengeance just to save face with his men. If she actually manages to escape back to her pub. The reality is, it’s more than likely that Eleanor is going to spend the rest of her life looking over her shoulder.

Black Sails airs tonight at 9:00pm ET/PT on Starz.
