Disney+ has released the epic first trailer for Black Is King, a new film from Beyonce based on the music of The Lion King: The Gift— watch it below!

A year following the release of Disney’s CGI adaptation of The Lion King, Beyonce herself is gearing up to revisit some of the lessons the film bestowed up on viewers around the world.

This time around, she’ll be doing it through sound and spoken word, and, excitingly, through a brand new film titled Black Is King.

On Sunday (July 19), Disney+ revealed the first trailer for the Lemonade artist’s brand new film, which features powerful imagery along with some profound narration.

The brand new film, which is based on the music of Beyonce’s The Lion King: The Gift, aims to “reimagine the lessons from the 2019 blockbuster for today’s young kings and queens in search of their own crowns.”

The film was shot on location across a variety of locations including New York, Los Angeles, South Africa, West Africa, London, and Belgium.

It also boasts an incredible cast, which includes some special appearances by the likes of Aweng Ade-Chuol and Adut Akech, supermodel Naomi Campbell, Tina Knowles-Lawson, author and Academy Award-winning actor Lupita Nyong’o, singer Kelly Rowland, Pharrell Williams and  JAY-Z, among others. In addition, those who tune in when the film hits Disney+ can also look forward to some appearances by artists featured in the Lion King: The Gift album.

Behind the scenes, the film boasts a creative team that features the likes of directors Emmanuel Adjei (Shahmaran), Blitz Bazawule (The Burial of Kojo), Pierre Debusschere (“Mine” and “Ghost” videos for Beyoncé), Jenn Nkiru (BLACK TO TECHNO), Ibra Ake (creative director and producer on “This is America” video for Childish Gambino), Dikayl Rimmasch (CACHAO, UNO MAS), Jake Nava (“Crazy in Love,” “Single Ladies,” “Partition” videos for Beyoncé) and co-director and long-time collaborator of Beyoncé, Kwasi Fordjour.

Black Is King, a film by Beyonce, hits Disney+ on July 31.
