Black Adam has found its Doctor Fate in none other than Pierce Brosnan.

According to Deadline, actor Pierce Brosnan is the latest notable name to join the cast of New Line and DC’s Black Adam.

The film is set to focus on the titular character, who also happens to be a long-time nemesis of Shazam. Originally a corrupted Egyptian prince (and also a predecessor to Captain Marvel), Black Adam eventually becomes an anti-hero who sets out to clear his name and restore his reputation.

For his part, Brosnan is set to take on the role of Kent Nelson, better known to some as his superhero alter ego, Doctor Fate.

In the comics, Kent Nelson acquires his powers of spell casting, superhuman strength, telekinesis, and more after he discovers the tomb of the wizard Nabu. From there, Nabu trains Kent in the ways of sorcery so he can go on to fight crime as Doctor Fate. Eventually, he also goes on to become a founding member of the Justice Society of America.

The James Bond vet joins Dwayne Johnson who stars as the titular Black Adam in the movie.

Others who’ve previously signed on to star opposite Johnson in the DC film include Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, and Quintessa Swindell. They’ll be taking on the roles of Hawkman, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone, respectively.

Black Adam is set to hit theaters on December 22, 2021.
