The Birds of Prey movie has officially released its full title, and the incredibly long, incredibly extra name has got fans talking.

All of the news coming from the upcoming Birds of Prey film has gotten DC fans pumped for the flick. With awesome casting news like the additions of Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Rosie Perez to the cast and confirmation that shooting is set to start in January, we’re always excited when new Birds of Prey news drops. Still, when they announced the full, official title for the film, fans were…surprised.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is an outrageous title and it feels more like the name of an early aughts Fall Out Boy song rather than the title to a new superhero flick. In fact, the super-long title had some wondering if it wasn’t a joke rather than the official name of the film. It has been confirmed that this is indeed the full title for the Birds of Prey movie, and whether you love it or hate it you have to admit that it gives the movie that fun mix of serious and playfulness we expect from stories involving Harley Quinn.

Plus, comic book fans have certainly responded incredibly positively to the recent story arc centering around Harley’s emancipation from her incredibly destructive beau, the Joker, and fans who only know Harley through watching Suicide Squad have echoed a desire to see her pulled from his clutches. Additionally, since Harley isn’t actually a member of the Birds of Prey, it does make sense that the film’s title separates the two.

Still, the title has sparked some concerns from fans that Harley will be stealing the spotlight from the new characters–especially the characters of color–being introduced in Birds of Prey. However, it’s still so incredibly early to make any sort of an informed judgment call, and at this point we have no reason to think this movie will be anything other than a badass, inclusive, empowering addition to the DCEU featuring a bunch of amazing female heroes (even if that title is completely, utterly extra).

With filming only beginning in January, we still have a bit of a wait for this flick, unfortunately. Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set to release on February 7, 2020.
