Considering J.J. Abrams’ track record, many are expecting the new NBC drama Revolution to be full of otherworldly mystery. But according to lead actor Billy Burke, that won’t be the case.

Revolution is the newest drama in an impressive J.J. Abrams line-up (which includes Alias, Lost, Fringe, Alcatraz and Person of Interest). The premise seems a bit like Terra Nova meets Flash Forward: all electricity in the world shuts off, and fifteen years down the line, humanity is trying to survive in a wild, ungoverned society.

Also involved in production are Jon Favreau (Iron Man director, Avengers producer) and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, so it’s safe to say that a lot of people are expecting this show to be a huge success! But what exactly can we expect from this series? One of the series’ leads, Twilight‘s Billy Burke, tells Zap2It that unlike Lost:

I don’t think people will be confused in the slightest watching it. For some reason, all forms of energy and power go out. Fifteen years later, people are trying to get along and trying to figure out how to reconnect and how to form new societies without any of those benefits. We cut back and forth a little bit in time, but it’s all pretty linear and very easy to follow and highly entertaining.

That the show is easy to follow is probably going to be a good move ratings-wise, but the question remains whether the premise and actor/producer pedigree will be enough to make the show stand out. Burke definitely thinks so, saying that Revolution is, “My favorite thing I’ve done in a very very long time.”
