It has been rumored for some time, but now we officially know: a Bill & Ted 3 is actually happening and will film this summer.

In this age of sequels, reboots, and remakes, fans have been tossing up the names of their favorite movies and shows to get the reboot treatment. Fans of the Bill & Ted films, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, have been asking for a third installment in the franchise.

After months of rumors and speculation, the films’ stars, Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter took to Twitter to officially announce the third film, Bill & Ted 3: Face the Music. The duo filmed a quick video at the Hollywood Bowl to announce the news and thank fans for their hard work pushing to make this movie a reality.

According to Reeves and Winter, Face the Music will start filming in the summer of 2019, and will be released in theaters in the summer of 2020. Reeves will, of course, be reprising his role as Ted “Theodore” Logan and Winter reprise his role as Bill S. Preston, Esq.

While the original movie focused on the two time-traveling to get historical figures together for a most excellent high school presentation, the new movie will have the slacker duo caught up a bit in the challenges of middle age and the responsibility of having a family.

These responsibilities have stood in the way of the pair’s one true goal: to write the best song ever written. When a time traveler from the future visits Bill and Ted to inform them that writing this amazing song is the only thing to save the world as we know it, the two set out on a time-traveling adventure to find inspiration for this epic tune.

It sounds just as outrageous as we’ve come to expect from a Bill & Ted flick. With the hearts of the fandom and the stars behind Bill & Ted 3: Face the Music, we’re certain this movie will draw in new and old fans to the most excellent world of Bill & Ted.
