The long-awaited threequel in the Bill and Ted franchise– Bill and Ted Face the Music — has finally dropped its first trailer!

The new movie will bring back Keanu Reeves as Theodore “Ted” Logan and Alex Winter as William “Bill” S. Preston, Esq, along with original screenwriters Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson.

However, the upcoming film will likewise be bringing in some new faces into the franchise, most notably Brigette Lundy-Paine as Billie “Little Bill” Logan, who is Ted’s daughter, and Samara Weaving as Theodora/Thea “Little Ted” Preston, Bill’s daughter.

The film comes nearly 30 years after the last movie, 1991’s Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, was released in theaters and will take place in real time, with its titular characters now well into middle age.

Bill and Ted Face the Music is set in the present day, with its titular characters having reached middle age and still having yet to write the song that will save the world.

Once again, the long-time best friends must set out on a new adventure — this time to the future, where they meet their future selves — so that they can find the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe. This time, however, they’re joined by their daughters, plus some new historical figures, familiar faces from previous films and, of course, a few music legends.

Directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest), the film likewise stars Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi), William Sadler, Kristen Schaal, Holland Taylor, Jillian Bell, Anthony Carrigan, Jayma Mays, Erinn Hays, Hal Landon Jr., Amy Stotch, and Beck Bennett.

The film is still set to open in theaters on August 21, 2020, though it’s still unknown whether it will keep that date given continued theater closures.
