Big Mouth — Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg’s raunchy adult animated show — has been confirmed for seasons 4, 5, and 6 on Netflix.

Netflix is notorious for cancelling shows — even high-performing, highly-rated shows — after their second or third season as a business practice.

However, Big Mouth looks like it will be one of the few shows on the steaming site to escape that fate.

Ahead of its third season premiere, Netflix announced this afternoon that it would be renewing Big Mouth for the next three seasons — 4, 5 and 6 — in an almost unheard of move for the steaming service and one that represents its largest show renewal to date.

The renewal comes as part of the deal Netflix signed with Brutus Pink, the newly created production company that consists of Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett, who are the creative team responsible for Big Mouth.

Big Mouth is part coming-of-age narrative, part gross out comedy about a group of friends as they enter into and try to survive the horrifying and hilarious stage of life known as puberty. Along for the ride with the friends are their hormone monsters — actual big, hairy monsters who help the burgeoning teens navigate the many highs and many, many lows of puberty.

The show — which was recently nominated for an Emmy — boasts an impressive cast, with writer-creator Nick Kroll voicing a good dozen or so (at least) characters, John Mulaney as a half dozen more, and names such as Jenny Slate, Jason Mantzoukas, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph and Jordan Peele rounding out the voice talent.

Netflix’s head of adult animation, Mike Moon, praised the show and the new partnership, saying, “Big Mouth brilliantly captures the most awkward phase in a person’s life, puberty, in a hilarious yet heartwarming way. We couldn’t be more excited to continue our relationship with Brutus Pink and bring more stories, more humor, and more hormones to Netflix members around the world.”

Big Mouth’s third season will premiere on Netflix this fall.
