Disney has a lot of faith in Big Hero 6: The Series because it’s already been renewed for season 2!

Big Hero 6 was a huge hit when it landed in theaters in 2014, so it was only a matter of time before there was a followup in one form other another. Disney chose to go with a television series, which will premiere on Disney XD this Fall.

The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that the series has already been renewed for season 2.

Of the series, THR says:

The series, which picks up immediately following the events of the film, continues the adventures and friendship of 14-year-old Hiro and his compassionate, cutting-edge robot Baymax. Along with their friends Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Go Go and Fred, they form the legendary superhero team Big Hero 6 and embark on high-tech adventures as they protect their city from an array of scientifically enhanced villains.

In his normal day-to-day life, Hiro faces daunting academic challenges and social trials as the new prodigy at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.

Many of the film’s original cast members are set to reprise their roles, including Maya Rudolph (Aunt Cass), Jamie Chung (Go Go), Stan Lee (Fred’s dad), Scott Adsit (Baymax), Alan Tudyk (Alistair Krei), Ryan Potter (Hiro), Genesis Rodriguez (Honey Lemon), and David Shaughnessy (Heathcliff).

Unfortunately, Damon Wayans Jr. and T.J. Miller will not be returning as Wasabi and Fred, respectively. They’ll be replaced by Khary Payton and Brooks Wheelan.

Kim Possible creators Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley and Nick Filippi will headline Big Hero 6: The Series.
