Coming off the huge success of Frozen, Walt Disney Animation Studios will release Big Hero 6 this November. Today, the first three images were released ahead of a trailer.

Big Hero 6 is the animated studio’s first Marvel adaptation. The comic series of the same name first appeared in the late 1990s, and a five issue miniseries was more recently published in 2008.

Empire’s first look at the film includes stills depicting the story’s lead character, 13-year-old Hiro Hamada who’s a robot whiz. Hiro creates a robot named Baymax (pictured below) who serves as his “best friend, father figure, and bodyguard.”

These photos appear to depict Hiro assembling his robot friend Baymax. Without his red gear, he looks like the Michelin Tire Man:

The story is set in the fictional town of San Fransokyo where Hiro joins a “rag-tag group of crime fighters” to thwart a criminal gang reeking havoc on the city.

In their preview, Empire discusses other characters who appear in the movie as well: “This is a film that features a character called Fredzilla, a man able to turn himself into a Godzilla-style lizard, as well as someone called Go Go Tomago, a young woman named Leiko Tanaka who uses a power suit to battle enemies.”

The Big Hero 6 trailer will be released this Thursday, May 22. While you wait, check out this very teaser-ish trailer which only serves to show off the beautiful animation:

We’ll be sure to share the trailer when it’s released latter this week. Given Disney Animation’s stretch of great films in recent years (Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen), there’s a lot of anticipation around Big Hero 6.
