Ahead of the season finale, CBS has announced that Big Brother has been renewed for two more seasons.

In a move that surprises no one, CBS is bringing Big Brother back for its 17th and 18th seasons. They will air in the summers of 2015 and 2016 respectively and will continue to be hosted by Julie Chen.

The series has always been a big hit for CBS, but Big Brother season 16 (which airs its finale tonight) is up +2% in viewers, bringing it to a total average of 7.56 million viewers. In the Adult 18-49 category it averages 2.7 million and ranks in the top 10 programs of the summer.

Big Brother After Dark, which gives fans a live look inside the house late at night, has also been renewed for the 2015 season.

Commenting on the renewal, Chris Castallo, CBS Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, says, “Big Brother continues to be the one of the summer’s most dominant programs, and with each season, Allison and Rich produce the most twisted ways to evolve the series creatively. With its one-of-a-kind format, coupled with its passionate, socially engaged fan base, no other show comes close to duplicating it.”

Big Brother is executive produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan.

The special 90 minute season finale of Big Brother will begin tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The final three houseguests Derrick, Cody, and Victoria will battle it out for the $500,000 prize.
