The 100th episode of the popular CBS sitcom ‘The Big Bang Theory’ achieved higher ratings than ‘American Idol’ on Monday night.

Is it bad news for the once-dominate Idol?

The show was able to secure more viewers in the 18-49 demographic and was the week’s top scripted program among adults 18-49 and 25-54.

A rebroadcast of NCIS delivered more than 13 million viewers, more than any scripted program on the competition, the 100th episode of THE BIG BANG THEORY topped “American Idol” in adults 18-49 and ROB retained 85% of its premiere in viewers and adults 18-49, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending January 22, Week 18 of the 2011-2012 season.

THE BIG BANG THEORY was also the week’s top scripted series in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, while PERSON OF INTEREST matched series highs in key demographics.

In related news, ‘Big Bang Theory’ star Simon Helberg (Howard) and his wife recently announced that they are expecting their first baby. Congratulations to them!
