Chris Colfer reads the first chapter of The Land of Stories book 4, titled Beyond the Kingdoms.
EW has released the first chapter of Beyond the Kingdoms, but instead of the usual print version, we get to hear none other than author Chris Colfer read his book aloud. This isn’t too much of a surprise, seeing as the actor has read each of the previous installments for the audio versions of his books, but to get sound bites so soon is exciting!

The official description for Beyond the Kingdoms reads:
The Masked Man is on the loose in the Land of Stories, and it’s up to Alex and Conner Bailey to stop him…except Alex has been thrown off the Fairy Council, and no one will believe they’re in danger.
With only the help of the ragtag group of Goldilocks, Jack, Red Riding Hood, and Mother Goose and her gander, Lester, the Bailey twins discover the Masked Man’s secret scheme: He possesses a powerful magic potion that turns every book it touches into a portal, and he is recruiting an army of literature’s greatest villains!
So begins a race through the magical Land of Oz, the fantastical world of Neverland, the madness of Wonderland, and beyond. Can Alex and Conner catch up to the Masked Man, or will they be one step behind until it’s too late?
In April, the official title and cover art were revealed. Colfer also stated, “This is the first time that the lead characters will be traveling into works of literature, so they rub elbows with characters from Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Robin Hood and all kinds of classic characters.”
Last year we learned Colfer will end his Land of Stories series at five books. Aside from several tie-in novellas and picture books based on this series, Colfer will also be publishing a story that follows a young actor who goes off on a road trip with a few of his fans.
The Land of Stories: Beyond the Kingdoms will be available to purchase on July 7, 2015.
