What’s the best way to respond to criticism over not performing the National Anthem live at the Presidential Inauguration?

If you’re Beyoncé, you open your Super Bowl press conference with a 100% live version of America’s song.

The superstar took the stage, asked the press to rise, and jumped straight into singing. To cap it off, her first words at the end of the National Anthem were, “Thank you guys so much. Any questions?”

Following the beautiful performance, the first question about her Super Bowl halftime show was, indeed, about the lip sync drama last Monday. For the first time, she responded to the criticism:

“I am a perfectionist,” she said. “One thing about me: I practice until my feet bleed. I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. It was a live television event. One of my proudest moments. Due to the weather, due to the delay, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk. It was about the President and the inauguration. So I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track. And I’m very proud of my performance.”

Moreover, she promised she’d be singing live on Sunday.

So what about the haters? “I love haters. No shame. No hate.”

Beyoncé will perform this Sunday during the Super Bowl 47 halftime show. In the mean time, check out the Super Bowl 2013 commercials already released to the world.
