Just days after the Beyoncé film, Homecoming, debuted on the streaming platform, Netflix confirmed that they have inked a deal worth a whopping $60 million with the singer.

Homecoming — a behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling Beyoncé’s Coachella performance in 2018 — is reported to be the first of three projects included in the $60 million commitment.

Sources allegedly confirmed the project deal and amount to Variety, though both Netflix and Beyoncé’s representatives declined to comment. However, a Netflix source reportedly “disputed the financial terms of the deal.”

Vulture also reported that HBO was interested in acquiring the Beyoncé project. HBO has an existing relationship with the singer, having aired 2016’s Lemonade, the 2014 On the Run Tour concert, and the Beyoncé and Jay-Z documentary Life Is But a Dream. Though HBO also did not respond to a request to comment, it is alleged that they pulled out of the deal due to the $60 million price tag on Netflix’s offer.

Homecoming premiered on Netflix on April 17. Along with the special, Beyoncé surprise-dropped a 40-track accompanying album. The Tidal exclusive 65-minute Lemonade audio will also be available on streaming services starting April 23.

The three-project deal should prove to be an exciting prospect to the BeyHive. With an unprecedented look into the behind-the-scenes of some of the singers’ historic moments, as well as the potential to provide brand new, never-before-seen content, it will make Beyoncé even more accessible to fans across the world.

Netflix’s deal with Beyoncé is not the platform’s first foray into music specials. Netflix has also debuted Taylor Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour, the Springsteen on Broadway special, Gaga: Five Foot Two, and the Quincy Jones documentary Quincy.
