Better Call Saul has been renewed at AMC for a sixth and final 13-episode season ahead of its season 5 premiere.

It’s a good news/bad news kind of day for fans of the Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul.

The good news is that the series has been renewed for a sixth 13-episode season.

The bad news is that the sixth season will also be Better Call Saul’s final season.

Though Better Call Saul has yet to debut its fifth season, AMC announced earlier at the show’s Television Critics’ Association winter press tour panel that the show had been renewed for a sixth and final season, expected to premiere sometime in 2021.

“From day one of Better Call Saul, my dream was to tell the complete story of our complicated and compromised hero, Jimmy McGill – now AMC and Sony are making that dream come true,” said showrunner Peter Gould. “We couldn’t be more grateful to the fans and critics who are making this journey possible. Next month we start work on the sixth and final season — we’re going to do our damnedest to stick the landing.”

In addition to looking forward to a sixth season, fans will also see some of their Breaking Bad favorites coming back for season 5 of the show. Showrunner Peter Gould stated that Dean Norris will be reprising the role of Hank Schrader, and Steven Michael Quezada will once again be playing Norris’ DEA partner Steven Gomez.

Better Call Saul stars Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman, Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler, Michael McKean as Chuck McGill Jr,, Patrick Fabian as Howard Hamlin, Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut, Michael Mando as Nacho Vargo and Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring.

The fifth season of Better Call Saul will premiere on February 23, with the sixth season expected sometime in 2021.
