The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim‘s next batch of downloadable content, Dragonborn, is set to release next month. Bethesda has released a few new screenshots that give us glimpses of the island of Solstheim, some of its wildlife and of course, some dragon riding.

The revamped webpage also gives us further Dragonborn gameplay information, plus an official synopsis:

With this official add-on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, journey off the coast of Morrowind, to the island of Solstheim. Encounter new towns, dungeons, and quests, as you traverse the ash wastes and glacial valleys of this new land. Become more powerful with shouts that bend the will of your enemies and even tame dragons. Your fate, and the fate of Solstheim, hangs in the balance as you face off against your deadliest adversary – the first Dragonborn.

There’s new dragon shouts, including “Dragon Aspect”, which allows you to use the “inner power” of a dragon to boost your damage output and strengthen your other shouts. There’s also confirmation that Bonemold and Chitin armors have returned from when we saw them in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

These screenshots follow Dragonborn‘s reveal earlier this month, where a teaser trailer gave us our first taste of Skyrim‘s third DLC. Check out the official website for further details.

Recently, it was also revealed that PlayStation 3 Skyrim players might finally be able to expect to see some DLC released for Sony’s console. Bethesda had previously been struggling with technical issues that prevented Dawnguard and Hearthfire from reaching the PlayStation 3.

However, so far we only have an Xbox 360 release date for Dragonborn: December 4. If release schedules for previous Skyrim DLC are anything to go by, expect Dragonborn to release on Windows in early January.

Are you excited about Dragonborn? We’re certainly looking forward to returning to Solstheim.
