“We’re all a little weird and when we find those people whose weirdness is compatible we join up with them and fall into a mutually satisfying weirdness and call them our best friends.”

Disney Channel’s new, highly-anticipated series Girl Meets World made a splash on the Internet this week, debuting on Watch Disney Channel to mixed reviews. But while we wait to watch the whole series and make a judgment call for ourselves, let’s take a look back at what made the original Boy Meets World so beloved in the first place: Cory and Shawn’s beautiful bromance.

So to celebrate this most epic of friendships, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite television bromances through the years. Here’s a salute to the TV friendships that do it right:

Cory and Shawn’s epic bromance was at the forefront of our beloved childhood sitcom. Sure, Cory’s parents supported him, and Topanga loved him, but when it came to the nitty gritty of the show’s shenanigans, his bestie Shawn was always the one by his side. And although this Boy Meets World generation grew up believing in the magic of childhood sweethearts and wise, old mentors, what we REALLY envied was the one-of-a-kind BFF bond between Cory and Shawn.

Unfortunately, in this limited time we’ve been allotted called “life,” I haven’t had the chance to watch every television show to ever exist. SO NOW IT’S UP TO YOU. Which of YOUR essential bromances didn’t make the list? JD and Turk? Troy and Abed? Spongebob and Patrick? Be sure and let us know in the comments!

Girl Meets World premieres Friday, June 27 at 9:45 p.m. EST on The Disney Channel before moving to its regular time slot at 8:30 p.m. EST on Friday, July 11. A free download of the Girl Meets World pilot will be available from iTunes on June 13.
