If you’re looking to stay in for date night, Disney+ has a plethora of movies in 2020 that’ll make it a magical time with your significant other.

We’ve already given you the best date night movies on Netflix, but what happens if you’ve exhausted all your options on that platform?

Check out Disney+, of course!

If you have a Disney+ subscription, then you know it’s full of great movies, both old and new, that would make any date night even better. Here are the best date night movies on Disney+ in 2020, broken up by studio:

The best date night movies on Disney+ in 2020

Disney

‘Aladdin’

Aladdin is one of the greatest love stories Disney has produced, but it’s also so much more than that. Yes, it’s about Aladdin and Jasmine falling in love despite being from two different worlds, but it also explores Jasmine’s royal duties and expectations, plus Jafar’s greed. The live-action version offers a little more substance to Jasmine’s storyline, but you can currently watch either on Disney+!

‘Lady and the Tramp’

This is another movie that has both an animated and live-action version available on the streaming service. Both are a great choice, but there’s something about the original that isn’t quite captured in the newer movie. This one in particular is about two different dogs from different worlds coming together and falling in love. Plus, you really can’t beat that spaghetti scene.

‘Wreck It Ralph’

If you want to go light on the romance for date night, then Wreck It Ralph is an excellent choice. It’s still got that heartwarming story of two different people from different worlds coming together, plus the added bonus of a whole bunch of pop culture references that you’re sure to love. The second movie, Breaks the Internet, isn’t on the platform just yet, but it’ll arrive on December 11, 2020.

‘Mulan’

You really can’t beat Mulan. It’s one of Disney’s greatest movies, and the live-action Mulan movie will hit theaters on March 27, 2020. That’s a perfect time to rewatch the original and enjoy all the songs, since the updated version won’t be a musical. While Mulan does have a slight romance arc, it’s mostly about women empowerment, loyalty, duty, and family.

‘Flubber’

Flubber is a love story through and through, which makes it one of the best date night movies. Not only does Professor Brainard love Dr. Reynolds, he also loves science, which is how he finally figures out the right formula for flying rubber, aka Flubber. But pretty much nothing goes according to plan, and the antics that ensue are hilarious. Robin Williams really brings this remake alive. Oh? You didn’t know it was a remake of a Disney classic? Luckily for you, The Absent-Minded Professor is also available to watch.

‘Noelle’

This is a Christmas movie, so it might not be appropriate year-round (or, maybe it is!), but it’s a good date night movie for those chilly months when you want to snuggle up to your significant other and watch something heartwarming. Everyone loves Anna Kendrick, and that’s even more true when she plays Noelle, one of Santa Claus’ children.

‘Beauty and the Beast’

Our final pick for Disney date night movies comes in the form of Beauty and the Beast. Both the animated and live-action movies are available on Disney+, which means you can watch either one — or both! There’s no greater Disney love story than the one that develops between Belle and Prince Adam, and both films do the story justice. In fact, just like the live-action Aladdin film, the live-action Beauty and the Beast movie gives Belle a little more substance to work with.

Pixar

‘The Incredibles’

If you’re looking for a date night movie on Disney+, The Incredibles is an excellent choice. It’s about teamwork and overcoming differences to become a stronger family unit — plus defeating the bad guy! The Incredibles is a beloved film, and when the sequel finally hit theaters 14 years later, fans were beside themselves. However, if you’re looking to watch Incredibles 2 on Disney+, you’ll have to wait until July 30, 2020.

‘Toy Story 4’

While Incredibles 2 might not yet be available on the streaming platform, the 2019 film Toy Story 4 definitely is. Woody may have left Andy behind in the third movie, but his story is far from over. The fourth installation in this franchise also deals with moving on and growing up, and Woody continues to learn some serious life lessons. Toy Story 4 might not hit you as hard as the third movie did, but don’t expect to get through this one with dry eyes!

‘Monsters, Inc.’

This is another movie that’s light on romance but big on love. Mike and Sully are best friends who might butt heads once in a while, but when it comes down to it, they will always have each other’s backs. It’s also about the developing relationship between Mike, Sully, and Boo, and the kind of love that exists between a parent and their child. You can also watch Monsters University, which is a prequel to the 2001 movie.

‘Coco’

It’s always good to remember how important family is, and Coco is the perfect movie to remind you of just that. When Miguel finds himself in the Land of the Dead, he must search for one of his ancestors in order to return back home. What follows is a lesson about the power of music, the importance of forgiveness, and how powerful truth can be. The songs in this incredible film will be the highlight of any date night movie you watch this year.

‘The Good Dinosaur’

Inside Out may have overshadowed The Good Dinosaur when they both released in 2015, but this animated film is well worth watching, even if it never got the acclaim it deserved. Throughout the film, Arlo learns how to make his own way in the world, despite all his anxieties and insecurities. It’s a powerful story about overcoming loss, fear, and surmounting odds. Even though it’s a little bit darker than some of the others on this list, The Good Dinosaur will leave you with warmth in your heart.

Marvel

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

What better way to start off date night with one of Marvel’s most unique and hilarious films? Guardians of the Galaxy has it all — humor, action, romance, and superheroes! There’s a lot to love about this film, and it definitely made a huge impact when it first hit theaters in 2014. If you want a pick-me-up movie, this is the one for you.

‘Captain America: The First Avenger’

Maybe you do want some romance in your date night movie, and if that’s the case, then The First Avenger is a solid choice. Sure, it doesn’t end on the happiest of notes, but if you’ve seen Endgame, then you know everything will be okay. Steve and Peggy’s romance might not be the focus of the film, but it’s certainly an important factor.

‘Ant-Man’

This chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is also a great date night movie and a perfect family film all around. While it does have a romantic arc between Scott and Hope, the true focus on the movie is on his relationship with his daughter, Cassie. It provides lots of laughs, but it’s also got a sweet redemptive message. While it’s not available on Disney+ just yet, the sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, also makes for a great date night movie.

‘Avengers: Endgame’

Now, you need to be a little more careful with Avengers: Endgame. This movie is not for the faint of heart. While it’s the most intense and potentially emotional movies out of the entire MCU, it’s also the most thrilling and epic. Everything comes down to this. Expect to shed some tears, let loose some laughs, and be filled to the brim with hope.

Star Wars

‘A New Hope’

Star Wars is always great for date night, and there’s nothing better than turning on the first movie. The original Star Wars is sure to bring back some nostalgic memories and probably end up kicking off a complete rewatch. Luckily, there’s plenty to see, and Disney+ has everything you’ll want to watch. Leia, Han, and Luke’s journey is just getting started.

‘The Mandalorian’

Okay, this is technically not a movie, but with episodes that average about 30-40 minutes and a season that’s only eight episodes long, you can get through The Mandalorian pretty quickly. The series is both brand new and has nostalgic factors, as it takes place five years after Return of the Jedi. If you and your significant other are serious Star Wars fans, you’ll find plenty to love here.

‘Empire of Dreams’

This two-and-a-half-hour documentary chronicles the making of the original Star Wars trilogy. It’s a must-see for any Star Wars fan, and while it’s not a fictional movie, that doesn’t mean it won’t brighten up your date night. It’s both nostalgic and educational, and might provide you with some good information if your next outing is for a Star Wars-themed trivia night.

‘The Last Jedi’

Rise of Skywalker won’t hit Disney+ for a little while yet, but you can still enjoy the latest entry in the Skywalker Saga, which is Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi. There’s a budding romance between Finn and Rose, plus the push-and-pull between Rey and Kylo. We also get to see Luke’s last moments, and revel in Carrie Fisher’s final entry as Leia. Keep those tissues handy.
