Being a die hard fan of the hit television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and my favorite actress is Sarah Michelle Gellar, I have come up with a list of the top twelve best episodes of the show.

Buffy ran on television from 1997 until 2003. Take a look at my choices for yourself!

12. Once More With Feeling

This episode was epic! It was different and unique in its own way. There are many episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that have moved me but this one had a musical essence to it which makes it stand out from the rest of the episodes.

11. Touched

The scene where Spike encourages Buffy and expresses his true feelings for her was brought to screen amazingly. That scene was so special that it made me weep! The way Spike confronts the gang and makes them realize the importance of the “Slayer” was extraordinary! After all, Buffy and Spike are the best couple. Sorry Angel!

10. Potential

Buffy teaches the potential slayers how to deal with vampires while on the other hand, the fate of a potential slayer is determined. The way an ordinary girl feels that she is capable of becoming the slayer was stunningly portrayed! In addition, there were many chills and thrills delivered in this episode. Undoubtedly, a fantastic conception!

9. The Witch

Can season 1 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer be any better? “The Witch” was one of the most intriguing episodes of the season. The cliffhanger in the end leaves you begging for more! The episode was wonderfully directed and the acting was incredible, as always!

8. Welcome To The Hellmouth

The pilot episodes are supposed to be exciting but “Welcome to the Hellmouth” was an exception when compared to every other television show. It was a blend of many genres including horror, drama, thriller and comedy. The first scene of the episode was the winner!

7. The Harvest

I remember first watching this episode when I was six years old back in California. It was thrilling and packed with suspense. Not to forget the messed up faces of those vampires! Being an avid fan of Buffy, it was absolutely astounding to witness the capabilities of all the demons and their leader, “The Master.”

6. The Wish

What is better than having all the characters in one episode, including Cordelia Chase? Nothing is! “The Wish” was unbelievably horrifying in its demeanor. It was wonderfully written and directed.

5. Prophecy Girl

“Giles, I’m 16 years old… I don’t want to die.”

This dialogue alone made me cry. The episode was touching but the motivation Buffy gets from herself in the end makes “Prophecy Girl” worthy of the top five!

4. Chosen

Undoubtedly, the best season finale I’ve seen in the entire series because it was very different. The background music and the way Buffy confronts “The First” after it knocks her down makes “Chosen” an epic series finale! Also, the last word that comes out of Buffy’s mouth is “Spike” which left me speechless in the end.

3. The Body

“The Body” was perhaps the saddest episode in the show’s history. Undoubtedly, it was wonderfully directed and produced. Joss Whedon is a genius when it comes to producing such heartbreaking episodes. He made “The Body” seem so special that it touched not only my heart, but millions of others! Words cannot express what this episode means to me.

2. Hush

This is what I call innovation. “Hush” was one of the scariest episodes I’ve ever seen! The music, makeup and of course, the setting were the key aspects that made this episode seem more interesting. It deserves this spot!

1. The Gift

“I just wish that… I just wish my mom was here.”

Whenever I see this episode over and over again, it always makes me cry. “The Gift” itself makes you feel as if you’re in the shoes of Buffy Summers. The scene where Buffy jumps off the building to save the world and her sister, Dawn, left me speechless in the end! Words are not enough to describe what this episode means to me. It has the “family” element to it as well. Undoubtedly, the music was the best composition I’ve listened to in the entire show. A perfect song for the ending scene!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer was more than just a television show. It was a series that connected and built a strong relationship with its audience. The show dealt with a number of social and personal issues that we as humans face everyday. Buffy is the only show I have come across that covers every aspect required in a television show.
