The Parade’s End star has admitted he sometimes worries about the level of obsession among some fans of the hit BBC detective series.

Speaking to What’s On TV, the actor confessed he found fans’ crazed actions “worrying.” He’s not concerned for his own safety though, as he said, “I worry for them, not for me.” He could be referring to slash Sherlock fanfiction, which (despite some embarrassment) he described as “flattering,” although the Cumberbitches, as they call themselves, certainly give the 36-year-old plenty to be worried about. All good natured though, we’re assured.

Benedict will next be seen in Parade’s End, a period drama adaptation of Ford Madox Ford’s novels which will be broadcast on BBC One in the U.K. next week. Approaching the role of aristocratic Yorkshireman Chrisopher Tietjens, Cumberbatch “insisted” on wearing a fat suit and cheek plumpers, but admitted he would “have liked to have gone a lot further.” The actor even went as far as saying, “I wasn’t fat enough!”
