With Doctor Strange about to head into principal photography, lead star Benedict Cumberbatch had a video message for D23 Expo attendees today.

While the actor couldn’t be present at Marvel’s portion of Disney’s live-action presentation Saturday morning, Benedict Cumberbatch offered up a video message in which he teased what’s to come from Doctor Strange.

“He’s an extraordinary character that brings another dimension” to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he told attendees, adding that Doctor Strange will feature “girls, cars, explosions, a bit of astral projection… the usual fare.”

No footage from the film was shown since shooting hasn’t started — the movie is currently in pre-production. As such, new concept art was shown today featuring Cumberbatch in the traditional Doctor Strange outfit with a little gray hair (like the comic character).

Doctor Strange will open in theaters next November and is the second film in Marvel’s Phase Three.

The first film is Captain America: Civil War which was also previewed today. Chris Evans (Captain America) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon) took the stage to tease the threequel and present the first footage. The two actors claimed to have flown in from Berlin just to premiere this new footage in front of a live audience. In the preview, attendees saw a battle in which Cap and Black Widow chase Crossbones. It was followed by the first trailer which included a glimpse of Black Panther and the return of Ant-Man, according to various reports on Twitter.

There were a couple of funny moments in the trailer including Tony Stark telling Captain America, “Sometimes I want to punch you in your perfect teeth,” while Scott Lang was in awe of Cap. “Captain America! This is awesome! Thinks for thanking of me.” He reportedly touched Cap’s pecs in a moment of awe.

Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans were thrilled to be there, as you can tell in these photos:

We don’t expect these previews to be released online in the near future.
