Sherlock and Elementary stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller have joint-won Best Actor at this year’s Olivier Awards! While Cumberbatch was unable attend due to filming commitments, his co-star Miller accepted the award on both of their behalf.

Though they may famously play the same character in competing modern-day interpretations of the Sherlock Holmes stories, it isn’t the first time that the duo have played the same role. Last year, Cumberbatch and Miller played Victor Frankenstein and The Creature in Danny Boyle’s stage adaptation of Frankenstein on a rotational basis – alternating between each role for the entire run of the show. Their hard word certainly didn’t go unnoticed, as the two won the joint Best Actor award at last nights prestigious Oliver Awards.

The Sherlock star didn’t attend the ceremony because of his filming commitments with The Hobbit and Star Trek 2, but his Elementary counterpart was there to accept the award on both of their behalf. Check out the video of his acceptance speech below!

Interestingly, this is the first time that two people have won the Best Actor award – and their Sherlock Holmes connection makes the win all the more interesting!
