A host of a popular movie talk show says multiple sources have told him Ben Affleck is no longer interested in playing Batman for Warner Brothers.

Collider Movie Talk host John Campea revealed the information in yesterday’s episode of his show, which has garnered over 100,000 views in the past 24 hours.

“Over the past four days, I’ve talked to three separate people, who are connected in some way, to what is going on over at Warner Bros,” Campea said. “They’re telling me that Ben Affleck, make no mistake, he does want out.

“He doesn’t want to be Batman anymore. I have been told that Affleck is talking with Warner Bros. in an attempt to get out of being Batman.”

Although Campea advises to take the information with a grain of salt, it comes just two weeks after Ben Affleck decided he would not direct the upcoming Batman solo film for Warner Brothers. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require,” he said at the time.

For Ben Affleck to leave would be a massive blow to an already struggling DC slate. The two most recent entries, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, were ravaged by critics. Wonder Woman is up to bat next, arriving this June. Justice League, Part 1 (which Affleck will star in) follows in November.

If Campea’s sourcing is true, and Affleck/WB find it too embarrassing to get a new Batman after the actor just stepped down from directing, maybe he’ll wait until after the solo film before leaving. He could then cite wanting to focus on other projects.

The solo Batman movie is rumored to be on the calendar for 2019.
