The fluffy, blue Tickle-Me-Elmo-esque toy Beebo has surprisingly become the best in-joke in the Arrowverse.

Beebo first appeared in Legends of Tomorrow 3×09 “Beebo, the God of War” as a holiday craze-turned-Viking god.

Yes, you heard that right.

In 1992, a young Martin Stein fought the holiday crowds to secure a Beebo toy as a Hanukkah gift for his daughter, Lily. Though he was successful in getting the toy, he was sucked into an anachronism, landing him — and Beebo — in Vinland, 1000 A.D.

Because the Vikings have never seen anything like a talking toy, they begin worshipping the “blue god.” Freydis Eriksdottir, the sister of Viking leader Leif Eriksson, began interpreting Beebo’s words as declarations of war — using the toy to achieve her own agenda.

The Vikings expanded their empire, thus creating an aberration of New Valhalla, a Norse-controlled North America that lasted into the present. The Legends, of course, arrived and stopped both the Vikings and the Darhks from cementing New Valhalla as real history.

Little did we know the furry blue greatness that was to come.

Beebo made a cameo on The Flash during Team Flash’s conflict with Trickster Jr. and Prank. When four of the toys were destroyed, Cisco wrote a (hilarious) memorial post for Beebo on his Chronicles of Cisco Tumblr:

“I would like to take this time to pay our respects to one of our fallen comrades. During our faceoff with The Trickster and Prank, we lost a little furry guardian, a soft blue light in a world of darkness – Beebo,” he writes.

He then includes a poem to memorialize the fallen Beebo, including delightful lines like, “You never faded out / Like toys most often do / A legend in your time / And often in others’ too!”

After Time Bureau agent Gary revealed himself to be wearing Beebo socks on Legends, the most infamous appearance of the blue god toy was in the Legends of Tomorrow season 3 finale. In order to fight the time demon Mallus, the Legends used the combined powers of the Zambesi totems to turn into something pure and good: a giant Beebo.

This giant Beebo fought and defeated the evil Mallus — complete with cuddle and heart-shaped explosion. It was the perfect culmination of the over-the-top silliness Legends has embraced.

“Sometimes you just get lucky with your performers and the themes and the world you create,” executive producer Phil Klemmer tells ComicBook.com of the Legends finale and Beebo’s return.

“The problem is we’re doing this stuff so far in advance that if you make a mistake, there’s not really righting the ship. It does feel like a small miracle when you get to the end of season and you look back on it and it feels coherent. You’re like, ‘You know what? It’s crazy and it’s wacky but …'”

“And not that we had any of this planned ahead of time because we’re not that conscientious or intelligent, but the fact that we’re able to pull all of the wild, disparate, loose ends in some semblance of a bow. It does feel, I don’t know, more that anything, you just feel like a giant relief and humility.”

The Legends of Tomorrow season finale does not look to be the final bow for the furry savior. Beebo made an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con:

Not to mention, the Legends of Tomorrow Comic-Con bag featured the giant Beebo.

And now he’s been spotted being held by a boy confronted by an alien on Earth-38 in a new Supergirl trailer:

Beebo’s greatness apparently can’t be contained by one Earth.

The only Arrowverse show Beebo has not appeared on at this point, then, is Arrow. It seems only a matter of time before William or baby JJ is seen with their own blue stuffed toy.
