Speaking at an event in New York City on Wednesday, songwriter Alan Menken revealed new details about the music in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast.

The new adaptation, starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast, is currently filming in London ahead of its March 2017 release. Menken, who wrote the music for the animated and stage iterations, is also responsible for the music in the new movie.

“I’m writing three new songs,” Menken confirmed on stage last night (via Stitch Kingdom). “[The film includes] only the songs from the movie, and we did not fit in any of the songs [from the Broadway show]. ”

Menken said he if was able to include a song from the musical he would’ve picked “If I Can’t Love Her” performed by the Beast. “But the Beast’s moment in the film is much later [than it was in the musical],” Menken explained. “It would not be ‘I can’t love her,’ it’s… ‘I love her but dammit I have to let her go.’ So we wrote another song called ‘Forever More,’ like, ‘I now know what love is.'”

The second new song is one called “Days in the Sun” which is a “lullaby” performed by many of the story’s beloved characters. “As all of the objects and characters living in the castle are going to sleep, they’re all singing about remembering [their lives] before the spell,” Menken said.

On not being able to include certain songs, Menken explained, “There’s quite a trunk associated with Beauty and the Beast, God knows, and a lot of those songs are not in the movie, but I think it’s going to be a wonderful movie. Really wonderful.”

Menken did not touch on the third new song, but we’re sure more details will surface in time.

Beauty and the Beast opens March 17, 2017 and is directed by Bill Condon. Co-stars include Emma Thompson (Mrs. Potts), Ian McKellen (Cogsworth), Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Luke Evans (Gaston), Josh Gad (Le Fou), Kevin Kline (Maurice), and Audra McDonald (The Wardrobe).
