BBC America continues to unveil new summer programming with In the Flesh. You can watch the first three minutes of the show here!

To help get audiences ready for the series premier of In the Flesh, BBC America released a short clip of the first episode. The three minute clip gives audiences a look into a very unique take on the zombie genre. Rather than making the living dead into mindless creatures too far gone for redemption – this program asks what would happen if we could in fact ‘cure’ a zombie.

Watch the video to take a look:

The clip paints a beautiful picture for how messy and complicated In the Flesh could become. In this program zombies aren’t turned into soulless threats which much be exterminated. They’re seen as victims to a very real and tangible sickness. Even just a few minutes in it’s virtually impossible to not see the parallels between this zombie infested world and the one we live in from day-to-day.

“Your parents? They’re looking forward to seeing you again? … Why wouldn’t they?”
“Because I’m a zombie. And I killed people.”
“No. Kieren… What are you?”
“I am a Partially Deceased Syndrome Sufferer. And what I did in my untreated state was not my fault. “

Entertaining and funny at first glance because it’s obvious Kieren is a zombie, but it is easy to hear the sentiment behind those words. The subtext is that we are not our disorders. A very powerful and interesting message to consider, especially during this moment in time. This three episode mini series is sure to pack a punch if this three minute clip is anything to go by.

In the Flesh premiers on BBC America June 6, at 10 p.m.
