Following last night’s leak, Warner Bros. has released the first Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, giving us an incredibly dark look at the first official footage of Ben Affleck as Batman.

In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s first trailer, we hear news anchors asking if Superman is someone we should be looking up to, or if he’s a false god. The camera continues its pan over the city, as we see a large statue in the dark. Watch the first trailer below:

There’s a reference to The Riddler in the trailer — this is the first time we’re getting solid evidence suggesting he’s in the movie.

Addressing the leak, director Zack Snyder also revealed that this Monday’s IMAX preview — only in theaters — will include extra footage and some physical goods:

It turns out the massive statue is of Superman, but spray painted on it in red paint is graffiti that says, “false god.” Then we hear Alfred telling Bruce Wayne that’s how it starts, “the fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness, that turns good men…cruel.” We don’t see Jeremy Irons as Alfred, but his voice is great in the trailer, and he should be an excellent pairing with Affleck.

Batman is seen underground, and then flying the Batpod as he blows up some vehicles. The Batmobile is seen rolling down the streets, and then Ben Affleck is shown in his Batsuit walking up from the darkness. He’s also shown hanging out on the top of a building, on his normal perch that we’ve seen before.

This is when the trailer gets really interesting. Lightning flashes and we see Batman’s face light up on a dark, stormy night. Batman’s eyes are glowing during this part of the trailer and then the lightning strikes the sky and Superman is hovering right above him.

We hear an incredibly raspy and deep voice come from Batman saying, “Tell me, do you bleed?” Then Superman flies down in front of Batman, crashing to the ground as debris flies up around him. Then Batman says, “You will.” This is epic. We have no idea how they plan on making Batman capable of fighting Superman, but it looks like they certainly plan on trying. That tank-armor Batman is wearing could definitely give him a fighting chance.

But, this conversation seems to hint toward him thinking that Superman may be the cause all the damage that happened during Man of Steel, and he’s not happy about it. During the Comic-Con trailer he asked if Superman was there to help us or hurt us.

Also missing in this trailer’s footage is the bat signal that was shining far into the sky where it’s lightning and standing inside Batman’s symbol was Henry Cavill’s Superman. He looked angry, his eyes were glowing red, similar to what we saw with his heat vision ray in Man of Steel. The camera panned in on Batman’s face as he looks angry and ready to fight when the film cut to black.

The first trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice looks incredibly dark and different than Man of Steel, and we’re insanely excited to see the first footage from the film since Comic-Con. Let us know what you think of the film’s first trailer.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s release date is set for March 25, 2016. Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill will return to co-star with Ben Affleck as Batman, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
